While promoting affiliate programs might be the most popular method for making money online, there are other alternatives such as making money with Google’s Adsense program.


Google’s Adsense program allows website owners to get paid for advertising that is placed on their websites on a ‘per click’ or ‘per impression’ basis.


What is Google Adsense?

Google has two advertising programs. One is called Google Adwords and the other is Adsense.


With Google Adwords, advertisers pay to have ads promoting their websites on Google’s content network. This content network is made up of websites that have opted to display the ads. These websites are said to be enrolled in the Google Adsense program.


So in other words Adwords is the source of the ads used in the Adsense program.


The way Adsense works is that when people are visiting a website that is displaying ads from Google, if they click on an ad that interests them, the Adwords user pays Google a fee which is then shared between Google and the website owner.


The ads on a website are based on the theme or niche of the website ie. websites about This increases the chance of ads being clicked as they are highly relevant to what the site visitor is looking for.


This can happen all day, especially on websites that have a lot of visitors, resulting in the website owner being sent a check by Google at the end of the month.


I receive a check from Google every month for around $300 bucks. Adsense isn’t my focus otherwise I would make a whole lot more.


I prefer the profits from affiliate marketing itself so I don’t usually put Adsense ads on my websites. However, there are persons who do make websites with the intention of earning from Adsense and they make way more than I do.


How To Get Started
To get started making money with Google Adsense, you need to have a website or blog. Although there is a way to make money with Adsense without a website or blog, the people at Google usually look for either of these when you apply for an account.


You will need to sign up at Google for an Adsense account.


When you sign up, your application will need to be approved by a Google employee so you’ll need  to have your website in order first and have read the Adsense guidelines.
